Jobs & Business Glasgow is responsible for promoting a full range of services to clients and business support across Glasgow.

 

We are looking to recruit for a Pantry Support Assistant

 

The post will be based in – C/o The Pearce Institute, 840/860 Govan Rd, G51 3UU.  

Hours of Work: 17.5 hours per week (Between Tues – Thurs)

Number of positions 2

Successful applicants will require a bank account/credit union account (in their own name). Wage paid weekly (one week in arrears).

Duties:

  1. Job Description: Brief job description below, 
  • Support daily pantry operations, including setting up, stocking shelves, and ensuring the space is clean, welcoming, and well-organised for members.
  • Assist service users with dignity and respect, helping them access food and essentials while providing a friendly, non-judgemental experience.
  • Manage stock control, including checking deliveries, rotating items, monitoring stock levels, and reporting shortages or 
  • Promote a safe environment, adhering to food hygiene standards, health & safety regulations, and safeguarding policies.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers, contributing to a positive team environment and supporting the wider aims of Govan

Essential Requirements:

  1. Good Customer Service skills
  2. Experience of working with members of a public in a customer facing role
  3. Good communication and interpersonal skills
  4. Ability to work as part of a team and support volunteers
  5. Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
  6. Ability to work respectfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene and food safety procedures
  • Experience of working in a community setting, social enterprise or food project
  • Knowledge of local services and support available within Govan
